Why Bhoomi exists

It started in the Monaragala High Court.

I was leading the evidence of a little girl — a long, painful day that kept the court sitting until four in the evening. As we finished, her mother came to me quietly and asked whether we could take her evidence that same day too. The judge saw her speaking to me and asked what was wrong.

She earned a daily wage, she said. Every time she came to court she borrowed about 4,000 rupees from the village loan shark — money to leave one child at a relative's house with food, and to cover the journey and the day's meals. If she had to come back another day, she would never get out from under the debt.

The judge and I finished her evidence that day. And then we started a small fund — for the mothers and children who came to court with nothing to eat and no way home.

That fund was the first Bhoomi.

The loan shark was there. The bank was not. I've been building the system that should have been there ever since — credit, insurance, settlement, identity — infrastructure that shows up by default, so it never again depends on two exhausted people deciding to care.

What Bhoomi solves

Built to heal the gaps of a broken system

One platform, engineered to fix real failures — in markets, savings, insurance, identity, and trust itself.

The harvest debt trap

At planting season, the village trader finances the inputs — and owns the harvest at his price. Bhoomi's working-capital credit doesn't claim your crop: the harvest sells to the highest bidder, and the loan repays from the sale.

Credit + marketplace on testnet · bank pilot next

Uninsured climate risk

One failed monsoon can erase a season. Bhoomi's weather cover pays out by itself when the rainfall index crosses the line — no adjuster, no forms, no 14-week wait.

Live on testnet

Savings that melt

Inflation taxes hardest the people least able to escape it. UTU is designed as a gold unit of account — 1 UTU = 1 milligram of LBMA gold, minted only against an attester quorum.

Design live · custodian onboarding pre-mainnet

Identity for the undocumented

No ID means no account, no credit history, no claim — invisible to every institution. A Bhoomi identity is created from a phone in minutes, post-quantum from birth, owned by its holder alone.

Live on testnet

Opaque supply chains

Where did it come from, who handled it, was the seller paid? Every Bhoomi trade carries a verifiable contract fingerprint and a delivery trail — provenance you can audit from field gate to buyer.

Delivery tracking live on testnet

Records the quantum decade will unseal

Data encrypted classically today is being harvested for decryption tomorrow. Every Bhoomi account signs with hybrid post-quantum cryptography from its first second — not as an upgrade, as the default.

Live everywhere, by default

Agriculture is our first proving ground — not our boundary. The same machine settles any real-world market: fisheries, energy, remittances, public records.

First proving ground

26,500 tonnes a week. Priced like a casino.

Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre is the beating heart of Sri Lankan produce — thousands of tonnes a week through 144 stalls, 5 a.m. to midnight. The people who trade there call it a gamble: wild price swings, information held by a few, and roughly a third of the harvest wasted before it earns a rupee.

Digital marketplaces have tried before — and failed, because a better price on a screen can't free a seller who already owes his crop to the trader who financed his fertilizer. Bhoomi was engineered around the lock, not the door: credit that doesn't claim the harvest, settlement the moment goods change hands, insurance against the season itself.

Sources: DDEC field analyses (Univ. of Kelaniya); dambulladec.com. The bank-underwritten input-credit programme is the first institutional pilot on the roadmap — it is what funding deploys.

Designed for human beings

The industry calls it “trustless.” We think that's the problem.

Humans don't run on mathematics; they run on trust. Bhoomi doesn't remove trust — it creates the trust you need to do business. The first blockchain designed for human beings, not just for machines.

Work you can watch. Every batch settles in one atomic commit and builds a tamper-evident receipt tree — the machine shows its labor instead of asking for faith.

Receipts you can verify. Anyone can re-derive the proof and confirm a transaction was included — without asking Bhoomi's permission.

Payouts that arrive unasked. Insurance that fires itself when the index trips. No claim, no queue, no discretion.

Numbers with their conditions attached. Every figure we publish carries its lab label. Marketing is a number without conditions; measurement is a number with them.

Numbers with the label still on

Much of the industry's testnet “traction” is bots farming a future airdrop. Bhoomi has no token sale and no airdrop — there is nothing to farm. So our numbers stay small, real, and labeled.

transactions finalized · public testnet, no incentives, nothing to farm
identities registered · each one real; Sybil-pointless
10,000+TPS · benchmark: 16+ signers, commodity hardware, lab conditions
1 mggold per UTU · design constant; custodian onboarding pre-mainnet

Why the small print? Because a number without its conditions is marketing. With them, it's measurement.

How it works

No mempool. No waiting room. No dread.

On most chains your transaction enters a holding pen while you refresh an explorer, hoping. On Bhoomi, ordering is computed — a deterministic place the moment it arrives, one atomic commit, a receipt you can verify. The anxiety isn't reduced; it's removed by construction, with an independent audit scheduled before mainnet.

Rank by entropy

Each transaction is scored on four causal variables — position, dependencies, sender reputation, and value — producing one reproducible order with no committee and no fee auction for priority.

Because the order is computed from the transaction itself, two transactions can never claim the same slot — front-running is eliminated by construction, with an independent audit scheduled before mainnet.

priority = α·position + β·deps + γ·reputation + δ·ln(1 + value)

Batch & shard

Ordered transactions are grouped into 512-transaction / 50 ms windows and sharded by identity across 16 parallel workers, so throughput scales with cores instead of bottlenecking on one writer.

With 16+ distinct signers active, committed throughput reaches 10,000–13,000 TPS — a labeled benchmark, not an adoption claim.

512 tx / 50ms · 16 identity-sharded workers

Commit atomically

The state machine applies each batch as a single atomic database commit. There are no partial states and no mid-batch rollbacks — a batch either fully lands or fully fails.

Value-creating operations (mint, redeem, loan origination, settlement) are pinned to a stronger durability tier so a crash cannot leave unbacked supply.

one batch → one atomic commit · sub-100ms finality

Anchor the proof

A SHA-256 Merkle tree is built per batch and anchored to OpenTimestamps, with Bitcoin anchoring on the production path. The result is a tamper-evident, independently verifiable receipt for every settled transaction.

Anyone can re-derive the Merkle root and confirm a transaction was included — without trusting Bhoomi.

SHA-256 Merkle root → OpenTimestamps · BTC (production path)
Security & identity

The old world's security is falling apart.

Banks are being hacked. Government payments are being hijacked. “Harvest now, decrypt later” is already standard practice — data recorded today, broken the day quantum hardware arrives. Enter the quantum era of security with Bhoomi Network: every account signs everything twice — Ed25519 for speed, CRYSTALS-Dilithium3 for the decades ahead — from its first second. The signature is ~3.3 KB heavier than the industry default. That weight is the point: security you can weigh.

Hybrid signatures

Ed25519 for speed, CRYSTALS-Dilithium3 for quantum resistance — verified together on every secured request.

2-of-3 key recovery

Keys are split with Shamir Secret Sharing — lose a device, recover safely, never trust a single point of failure.

A deliberate ceremony

The platform refuses to continue until your recovery key is saved. Thirty seconds of friction, deliberately placed — an account that takes ceremony to secure feels like what it is: a vault, not a login.

Hardened Rust core

All signing, hashing, and key generation run in a hardened, statically-linked Rust core — verified with signed-request authentication over identity, timestamp, and body hash.

32-byte master seed 2-of-3 Shamir Secret Sharing AES-256-GCM encrypts keypair (Dilithium3 + Ed25519) ┌─ Shard 1 · server-side (sealed by user secret) ├─ Shard 2 · delivered to user └─ Shard 3 · discarded Recover with any 2 of 3
Token economy

Three tokens. Three jobs. No overlap.

Money you can mentally separate is money you can trust. One for everyday spending, one for names and votes, one for gold-anchored savings — each does exactly one thing.

BPU

Everyday platform currency

The rupee-pegged platform currency — the money of daily life on Bhoomi. Payments, purchases, marketplace trades, and network fees, all in one familiar unit. Fiat on-ramp in integration — card and local payment rails.

Not an investment — and we will never market it as one.

BNS

Names & governance

Your human-readable name and your vote, in one token. Name registration, governance staking, voting power.

Your identity and your voice — not a lottery ticket.

UTU

Gold unit of account

Designed so 1 UTU = 1 milligram of LBMA gold, minted only against a 2-of-3 attester quorum with on-chain reserve snapshots. Custodian and proof-of-reserve land before mainnet.

Anchored to milligrams, not to sentiment.

Bhoomi was architected and built solo over 18 months, from a one-man office in Kirulapone, Colombo — through three failed ledger models before the Entropy-Spacetime Ledger finally held. No team. No outside funding. No local crypto ecosystem to lean on.

Gayan isn't a technologist who went looking for a problem. He spent seven years inside the failure — watching the formal financial system not show up for the people who needed it most — and then built the alternative the way a prosecutor builds a case: read the precedents, find where the argument breaks, build the version that holds.

The testnet is live. The next chapter needs partners.

Funding deploys three things, in order: the bank-underwritten input-credit pilot, the LBMA custodian and proof-of-reserve, and the independent security audit. If you write cheques, deploy grants, or build rails for emerging markets — let's talk.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight

Bhoomi is a post-quantum blockchain built as a horizontal Financial Operating System for emerging markets. In one platform it combines a consensusless ordering engine (the Entropy-Spacetime Ledger), a gold-anchored unit of account (UTU), post-quantum identity, and embedded finance — credit, automatic weather insurance, and yield — with a native commodity exchange. Agriculture is the first proving ground, not the boundary.
There's no mining and no validator vote. The Entropy-Spacetime Ledger computes a single deterministic order for every transaction, which eliminates front-running and MEV by construction — with an independent audit scheduled before mainnet. Every account is post-quantum secure from creation, and settlement is sub-100ms. And philosophically: the industry builds "trustless" machines; Bhoomi is built to create trust — for human beings.
Because they're real. Much of the industry's testnet volume is airdrop farming — bot fleets running thousands of fake wallets to qualify for future tokens. Bhoomi has no token sale and no airdrop, so there is nothing to farm and no reason for a single fake user to exist. Every number we publish carries its conditions: benchmarks are labeled benchmarks, and usage counts are real usage.
UTU is designed so 1 UTU = 1 milligram of LBMA-grade gold, minted only against a 2-of-3 registered attester quorum, with on-chain reserve snapshots. A production LBMA-certified custodian and monthly proof-of-reserve attestation are part of the path to mainnet — the quorum machinery is built; the live vault counterparty is being onboarded.
Yes. A public testnet runs at testnet.bhoomi.network. You can register a post-quantum identity and make a transfer in minutes.
Three ways today: the live testnet (register, transact, verify your own receipts), the independently re-derivable Merkle proofs on every batch, and the litepaper's architecture documentation. An independent third-party security audit is scheduled before mainnet, and the source opens as the patent and grant process completes.

Bhoomi (භූමි / பூமி) means land — the earth itself. It is the oldest asset class in the world and the one most of our users already understand, hold, and trust. A fitting name for a financial system anchored in real things: land, harvests, gold, and people.
Bhoomi is in conversation with mission-aligned funders, development-finance institutions, and infrastructure partners. Use the contact form or email gl@bhoomi.tech and we'll set up a conversation.
